David Clark

Founder and Director

David is a sustainability leader in the Australian property sector, helping clients and project teams to deliver healthy, low carbon buildings. His collaborative approach and clear communication style is underpinned by technical expertise and many years' experience in designing buildings and infrastructure, preparing sustainability strategy and creating industry tools and guidance.

David has the unusual background of being a chartered engineer in both structural engineering and building services. This unique skill set allows David to work with all design disciplines, understand the different challenges they face, and develop solutions that are ambitious, practical and, most importantly, achievable.

And when talking to Boards and ESG managers, he is able to explain the issues clearly and develop ambitious strategy informed by a deep understanding of technical delivery.

David is passionate about sharing knowledge which is fundamental to inspiring and enthusing others to deliver sustainability solutions. His book, What Colour Is Your Building?, and various other guides are available to download from the Library.

David has been a strong advocate for raising the level of sustainability performance in the property sector for many years, sitting on various industry committees in both the UK and Australia. This includes being the principal author of the first Green Star rating tool in 2003 and assisting in developing the suite of new tools as a member of the Green Star Advisory Committee and Chair of the Green Star Technical Advisory Group since 2016.

Outside of work David is a keen bushwalker, average guitarist and tragic supporter of Macclesfield Football Club.
